She began her journey in the small city of Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A., where the Indian population was scarce, she started her journey with big dreams and a small workshop. Today, she is the first female South Asian couture women designer based in the U.S.A., who supplies her creations to multi-designer stores across India. Leading her brand, aanganbyParul, with unparalleled passion and determination. As a successful business women she is commitment to one principle: “Never compromise on your ethics.”
Parul began her fashion journey with just two employees in a small workshop. Despite coming from an accounting and finance background, she stepped into the unfamiliar world of fashion with unwavering resolve. Today, her team has grown to over 100 employees, and her creations grace multi-designer stores across India and the United States.
She believes in “Dream big, start small, and never stop moving forward.”
The story of aanganbyParul is one of resilience. Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, Parul Shah aimed to support craftsmanship, empower women, and uplift Indian artisans facing hardships, making this mission the foundation of her brand.
In order to motivate her team she always say “Empower others, and you’ll find your true strength.”
Running a fashion business from miles away is no small feat, but Parul handles it all seamlessly. From selecting fabrics to designing outfits, solving business challenges, managing finances, guiding marketing strategies, and maintaining client relationships, she does it all. Her focus and ability to multitask have made her a leader to look up to.

My journey and story! I am a designer and a devout entrepreneur based in the US. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and the luxury brand Aangan by Parul that has been my maiden venture that I started in Ohio, USA triggered by my undying interest towards fashion, textile, and Indian ethnic wear. I started this as a small home business. As my knowledge about the art of designing and making Indian clothes increased and my network of vendors and craftsmen grew, this interest developed into a passion. After a lot of research, tireless workdays, and hard work, I was finally able to develop a brand of my own that I was so very proud of called “aanganbyParul”.
Ironically this brand came into existence during Covid, a time when the fashion industry had come to a screeching halt due to lockdowns. During that time, I recognized the immense hardship that our country's talented craftsmen were going through and how ruthless and uncompassionate the fashion industry really was. This is when I had decided that I would in my small way try to make a difference in their lives by helping them during these very unprecedented times. I realized that in addition to pursuing my passion I can also help support India’s talented craftsmen and help increase awareness of Indian Ethnic Fashion in America and world. This is how my journey with aanganbyParul began in 2020. I have worked with local craftsman in Kolkata and have grown from a team of 2 people to 40 people now.
“aanganbyParul” is an upcoming luxury brand focused on luxury Indian clothing from bridal wear to casual wear. We have 2 locations, one is in Cleveland, Ohio (USA) and the second in Kolkata (India). All our design and manufacturing takes place in our Kolkata unit.
